The Lord is My Rock!

I look around, I feel in the room great love.

As I continue to listen to the conversations of things that happened in the past and store up those stories in my memory bank, I rejoice.

As I hear and get involved in the sharing from family members of their life situations today, I pray.

As people share their dreams of when they were young and where they are now, I ponder.

I’m in a time visiting with my immediate family for a few weeks. This does not often happen due to me living in another state. It makes my spirit to wonder, to reminisce.

The heartfelt sharings from many members of my family bring to mind that humanity all strive for happiness.

All our dreams, hopes, desires, plans for our lives do not all eventuate. But because of our Faith, we hold the ache in one hand and join it to the trust in God in the other.

God has our plans and will make it all good in the end.

What we think is disaster is often the very thing that makes us a better person.

I don’t have all my prayers answered, all my “why Lord” explained? But I do have a loving Saviour that works it all out in the end. I need to trust in Him in that.

The prayers that I persevere with actually help me have a consistent relationship with God. They spur me on to talk to Him, to be open and honest with God.

It’s only by His Grace that I stay focused and trust in Him.

Looking at the world – it has nothing to offer me. God is my rock, my stronghold.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer,
my God, my rock in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 18:2 NRSV

So can I encourage those who desperately need courage today – Hold onto Him. He will never disappoint.

For many of us who cope by doing a day at a time know that God is with you in that day and in the next day and the next day….. Oh, that comforts my soul to know this!

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Every week groups of ladies meet together to chat about the things I raise in my weekly blog post and to chat about life in general. We call these ‘Heart Connect’ groups.

When you think about the plans that you had for your life, how have they worked out?

How have you relied on God as your rock when plans have changed?

If you haven’t relied on God is it something that you would like to try to do for the future? Why do you think relying on God is helpful when plans fall apart?
